PRIVATE SECURITY EMPLOYERS

Dear Customer,

We strongly recommend using Google Chrome or Safari browsers to complete the online application.

Basic Information

After November 1st, 2018 all companies who currently hold a merchant guard company license will need to apply for a NEW private security employer license at least 30 days before their current license expires. Please see details below for how to apply for a new private security employer license.

You can access the online applicaiton by clicking on the blue buttons on the right-hand side of this page.

We recommend that current merchant guard companies apply for a new private security employer license 30 days before their current license expires. This will ensure that Excise and Licenses has plenty of time to process the application so that there is no lapse in the company's ability to hire or employ.

We recommend that in-house security status holders apply for a new private security employer license on or shortly after November 1st, 2018 as in-house status does not allow you to employ security guards.

Security Guards will need to provide a Certificate of Security Guard Training Completion when they submit their licensing application. Be advised that only listed Eligible Training Providers can provide this certificate. Holding a Private Security Employer  license does not  automatically enable you to issue these certificates.

We recommend that all private security employers start their application by downloading our New Private Security Employer Online Application Guide.

We recommend that all private security employers start their renewal application by downloading our Renewal Private Security Employer Online Application Guide.

You can access a full list of FAQs and Application User Guides that walk you through the online application process here.

A private security employer  applicant can check the status of an application at any time through the online application portal. Please download our Application Status Check-In Guide for step by step instructions.
