Jolon was elected to the Denver City Council in 2015 to represent Lucky District 7 in south central Denver. During his tenure, Jolon has focused on transportation & mobility, housing and homelessness, sustainability & the environment, and public safety. Jolon was elected President Pro-Tem of the Council in 2016, and President in 2018. He currently serves as President of the Council. The Council President presides over council meetings, determines the committee membership and sits as a member of all committees. Jolon also serves on the board of the Denver After School Alliance, Levitt Pavillion Denver, and as an alternate board member on the Denver Regional Council of Governments.

A Denver native, Jolon was raised in Wash Park. He attended South High School and Colorado State University. Jolon currently lives in Platt Park with his wife, Sarah and their two children.
