Celebrating the Armed Forces Day of Service

The Volunteers of America Bill Daniels Veteran Services Center, in concert with Bark-and-Play and The Center for Animal Wellness, invites you to the 3rd Annual Armed Forces Day of Service, Saturday May 19 2018 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Volunteers of America Bill Daniels Veteran Services Center, 1247 Santa Fe Drive, Denver 80204.

Every year since 1950 our country has honored its active duty members and veterans of the Armed Forces on the third Saturday in May known as Armed Forces Day of Service.

Services that will be provided for Armed Forces active duty members and veterans, at no cost to them, include heart health screenings by Denver Public Health, dental educational services and resources provided by the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine, counseling provided by the University of Denver School of Military Psychology, and veterinary services for furry companions by veterinary students from the Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Additionally, many other business and industry partners will provide a range of personal items and refreshments for Armed Forces members, and vaccines, microchips, heartworm tests, and behavioral counseling for dogs.

You're invited to  prior to the event to witness the Color Guard ceremony at the 8:30 a.m. Financial contributions to the Volunteers of America Veteran Service Center’s *Veteran Peer Program which has been a safety net for many veterans in need of financial help, such as housing deposits, will also be accepted at the event.
