Mayor Michael B. Hancock, current and former members of City Council, Chief Financial Officer Brendan Hanlon, and Denver Motor Vehicle (DMV) staff officially opened a new DMV branch today to better serve the residents of southeast Denver. The new DMV branch is located as 2223 S. Monaco Parkway, Denver, CO 80222.
“If you work or live in southeast Denver, we are proud to once again offer a more convenient and accessible Motor Vehicle office for your titling, registration and renewal needs,” Mayor Hancock said. “Through employee-driven innovation, our city employees have done phenomenal work in improving services at the DMV, and providing more options for which branch residents can visit is one more step in our goal to further reduce wait times for residents.”
Southeast Denver has not had a Motor Vehicle branch office since 2003, when the original location was closed due to budget constraints.
“I want to thank former Councilmembers Peggy Lehmann and Jeanne Faatz for advocating on behalf of south Denver for this new DMV branch office. I’m thrilled to be here today to open the new location and for the constituents of south Denver who now have a more conveniently located DMV option,” said Councilwoman Kendra Black.
“Employee-driven innovations at Denver Motor Vehicle have reduced the average wait time from an hour and 15 minutes to just 20 minutes over the last four years. The DMV’s focus on improving customers’ experience even led them to receive a ‘People love us on Yelp!’ award earlier this year,” said Chief Financial Officer Brendan Hanlon.
The Denver DMV sees over 30,000 people per month at the four current branch offices and they mail over 400,000 renewal notices to Denver vehicle owners each year. Residents can continue to renew their vehicle registration online at www.pocketgov.com or www.denvergov.org/dmv, as it is still the quickest way to handle that simple transaction.
