Artists Needed: Proposals for SE Public Art Project

Calling all Denver artists! The Thomas Jefferson High School PTO was recently awarded a grant for an art bus shelter on Hampden (between Ivanhoe and Holly). The shelter will feature a rotating display of art by the Fine Art students. We would like to continue that community involvement in public art by requesting proposals for tile designs for the cement retaining wall behind the shelter. Criteria:

  • Design must be representative of Denver/southeast Denver.
  • Design must be easily seen by commuters traveling on Hampden.
  • Details of the wall dimensions:
    • Location: South side of Hampden Ave, west of S. Ivanhoe St.
    • East and west walls are 9 ft each in length
    • Back wall is 29 feet in length
    • Height for back wall is 29 inches
    • Height for east and west walls starts at 29" and goes to 6"
  • Winning design will be unveiled at the South by Southeast Festival.
  • If interested, contact 720-337-4444 or e-mail Kathy.gile@denvergov.org for more details.
