housing development

East Colfax is one of Denver’s oldest main streets but in recent decades has fallen into disrepair. We are working on bringing much needed public investment to this long-neglected corridor in the form of streetscape enhancements, intersection improvements to increase safety, median repair, lighting and other developments that will spur private investment in the corridor.

City Council Actions

  • Initiate policy that will promote the following along East Colfax:
  • Neighborhood Planning Initiative’s East Neighborhood Plan
  • General Obligation Bond funding for East Colfax priorities
  • Motel Task Force Actions
  • DenveRight: Blueprint Denver update
  • Planned Bus Rapid Transit along the corridor
  • Mayor’s Mobility Task Force recommendations
  • Economic Development along the corridor
  • Affordable housing
  • Efforts of the Office of Economic Development

Year-end Goals

  • Guide stakeholder process for upcoming Neighborhood Planning Initiative to ensure all voices are heard
  • Obtain funding through the GO Bond for improvements along East Colfax
  • Reduce crime and vandalism along the corridor
  • Secure funding and an equitable planning process for the BRT
  • Help the Business Improvement Districts secure funding for streetscape improvements
  • Redevelop vacant and other parcels into affordable housing and neighborhood-serving businesses
