Murphy Robinson Named Executive Director of General Services

Mayor Michael B. Hancock today named Murphy Robinson as the next Executive Director of the Department of General Services for the City and County of Denver. As Executive Director, a cabinet-level position, Robinson will oversee the management of city facilities, building energy efficiency strategic initiatives and procurement of goods and/or related services for city agencies.

Traffic Advisory for North Bound I-25 and I-70

Beginning Tuesday, August 29, nighttime single lane ramp closures from northbound I-25 to I-70 can be expected from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. These closures will alternate between the right and left lanes.

More than 15,000 People Visited the Square on 21st

After a successful summer that saw more than 15,000 visitors come to the Square on 21st, a pop-up park between Larimer and Lawrence Streets, traffic will return to the downtown block this weekend. The park, a collaboration between the City and County of Denver and the Downtown Denver Partnership, showcased how underused public right-of-way can be activated and transformed, and it provided a park-like public space in a neighborhood that lacks these types of spaces.

What To Do with Those Eclipse Glasses

The Denver Museum of Nature & Science, located at 2001 Colorado Blvd., will be collecting eclipse glasses through Sept. 30. The glasses will be sent to Astronomers Without Borders and redistributed to school children in Asia and South America for the 2019 solar eclipses.

Denver Animal Shelter (DAS) is partnering with Telemundo Denver to host Clear the Shelters on Saturday, Aug. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. This “name your own adoption fee” event is one of hundreds of local adoption events taking place across the country as part of the annual promotion.
