Park(ing) Day 2019

On September 20, DPW and representatives from Denver City Council transformed three downtown parking spaces at 15th Street & Court Place into outdoor meeting spaces and areas to inform passersby about city programs and services. It was a huge success!

Evans Speed Limit Reduction

Denver Public Works is identifying stretches of roadway in the city where it can reduce speed limits to create safer travelling conditions. Speed influences both the risk of being involved in a crash as well as the severity of injuries that result from a crash. Denver’s Vision Zero Action Plan cited speeding as a factor in 53% of fatalities in Denver in 2015.

Vision Zero Videos

Film students at CU Denver’s College of Arts & Media are helping get the word out about Denver’s Vision Zero initiative by creating three Public Service Announcements (PSAs). The City and County of Denver’s collaboration with CU Denver helps us reach new audiences with critical safety messages, all with the goal of eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries on our roadways by 2030.

2019 Snow Road-eo

Denver’s high temperature on July 31 was 92 degrees. The perfect day to start thinking about snow! Snowflakes won’t begin falling in the Mile High City until later this year, but DPW’s 31st Annual “Snow Road-eo” competition simulated snowy driving conditions on a hot summer day all in the name of safety.

On My Way Program

School is almost out for summer, but that doesn’t mean the transportation needs of Denver’s youth end when that final bell rings. The City and County of Denver is proud to collaborate with RTD and Denver Public Schools to launch On MY Way!, a summer transportation program enabling youth with a MY Denver Card to receive free transit fares directly on their cell phones via RTD’s Mobile Tickets app.

Denver Public Works Paints Purple Stripe Along Blake Street

Baseball is all about tradition – peanuts, Cracker Jack and rooting for the home team. Ever since Coors Field opened in 1995, Denver Public Works has been a big part of that baseball tradition with the painting of the “Purple Stripe” before the Colorado Rockies Home Opener. April 4 marked the 24th consecutive year DPW has painted the 18-inch purple stripe along Blake Street from 22nd to 19th Streets.
