DHS Works to Keep Residents Warm This Winter with Launch of Annual Low-Income Energy Assistance Program

Denver Human Services (DHS) is working to keep Denver residents warm this winter with the launch of the annual Low-Income Energy Assistance Program, or LEAP, which begins accepting applications November 1. LEAP is available for qualifying households through April 30, 2019.

Denver Encouraging People Experiencing Homelessness to Seek Shelter Ahead of Cold Weather Front

With winter weather moving in, the City and County of Denver and its partners are encouraging people experiencing homelessness to seek shelter rather than trying to brave the elements outdoors. Denver has nearly 2,000 shelter spaces available each night and the ability to leverage the city’s Recreation Centers to serve more in an emergency. On average, 100 to 150 shelter spaces go unused each night.

Denver Launches Shower Pilot for People Experiencing Homelessness

Denver’s Road Home and Denver Parks & Recreation are partnering to pilot a program to provide shower access at the La Alma Recreation Center for people experiencing homelessness.
