DENVER – April 27, 2015 – For those experiencing homelessness or struggling to make ends meet, it can be difficult to obtain even basic hygiene items. Each year, the GIVE Denver Center at Denver Human Services provides hundreds of simple hygiene items like soap, shampoo or toothpaste to more than a thousand people in need. That’s why GIVE Denver is asking the community to donate hygiene items to those in need through the First Annual Spring Showers Hygiene Drive from April 27 through May 8, 2015. Monetary donations are also accepted.
“It’s hard to imagine facing the choice of either providing soap and deodorant for your family or putting food on the table, but for many in Denver’s underserved community it is a common dilemma,” said Denver Human Services Executive Director Penny May. “Through the support of our community, the GIVE Denver Center is able to step in and help meet the basic human needs of some of the most vulnerable in our city.”
In 2014, the GIVE Denver Center provided more than 1,200 people with hygiene items like diapers, socks or bathroom tissue. In 2015, they hope to serve even more through donations collected during the First Annual Spring Showers Hygiene Drive.
GIVE Denver is in need of the following items: deodorant; hand sanitizer; Kleenex; new socks; water bottles; adult diapers; toilet paper; tampons & pads; combs & brushes; razors, shaving cream & lotion; baby diapers, wipes, pull-up & baby power; toothpaste, toothbrushes, floss & mouthwash; shampoo, conditioner, soap & body wash.
