Denver Human Services Names Jennifer Yeaw Chief of Staff

Denver Human Services (DHS) today welcomed Jennifer Yeaw as its new Chief of Staff. As Chief of Staff, Yeaw will support the implementation of DHS’ new strategic vision and oversee the day-to-day operations of the department and its executive leadership team. Yeaw assumes the role after the retirement of Jay Morein, a venerable human services leader who has served as Chief of Staff since 2015.

More than 1,400 Connected to Vital Resources and 157 Offered Employment at Annual Project Homeless Connect Event

Denver’s Road Home, in partnership with Mile High United Way, hosted hundreds of people experiencing homelessness and housing instability at the annual Project Homeless Connect event. Denver’s Road Home convened more than 100 resource providers to offer on-the-spot employment, health, and other basic services at the Colorado Convention Center, removing the barriers of time and transportation that are especially challenging for anyone experiencing homelessness.

Denver Encouraging People Experiencing Homelessness to Seek Shelter Ahead of Cold Weather Front

With winter weather moving in, the City and County of Denver and its partners are encouraging people experiencing homelessness to seek shelter rather than trying to brave the elements outdoors. Denver has nearly 2,000 shelter spaces available each night and the ability to leverage the city’s Recreation Centers to serve more in an emergency. On average, 100 to 150 shelter spaces go unused each night.

BP Donation to Denver Will Power Local Shelters for 12 Months

Mayor Michel B. Hancock and Denver’s Road Home will join representatives of BP Lower 48 on World Homeless Day to announce a $350,000 donation from BP to power local shelters for those experiencing homelessness by paying the electric and gas utility costs for the next 12 months.
