Making the holiday season a little brighter for those who need help is the goal of Denver Human Services’ (DHS) Adopt-a-Family, Teen, or Senior Holiday Gift Drive, which kicks off today.
The annual holiday gift drive, coordinated by GIVE Denver, pairs dozens of donors in the community with hundreds of families, teens, and seniors who receive services from DHS. The drive ensures people served by DHS experience the joys of the holiday gift giving regardless of their financial or family situation.
“The holiday season should be a special time of year for everyone, regardless of their financial status,” DHS Executive Director Don Mares said. “Thanks to the generosity of those in Denver who contribute through our Holiday Gift Drive, we can make this season a little brighter for our neighbors who may be struggling to make ends meet.”
In 2017, GIVE Denver provided holiday gifts to nearly 500 families, teens, and seniors served by DHS. Gift recipients are nominated by DHS caseworkers and staff and include those involved with foster care, adult protective services, and assistance programs, among others.
