Guerrilla Gravity, a customer-focused mountain bike design/manufacturing startup, took the top prize at OED's JumpStart BizPlan Award, which was last presented in 2015.
Culminating during Denver Startup Week, OED honors the best and brightest ideas in local small business. Our volunteer-based application process selected three start-up and early-stage finalists who pitch their concepts at a live event at the Commons on Champa.
Guerrilla Gravity's top prize package included $30,000 cash, legal counsel provided by Polsinelli, and strategic marketing services from dovetail solutions.
This is typically an annual competition. Plans for future BizPlan Awards are still being developed.
Thinking about applying? Here's what you'll need to know!
The JumpStart BizPlan Awards are open to startup businesses as well as established Denver businesses with up to 25 employees that have been operating up to five years. It is open to Denver businesses, Denver residents and/or individuals with plans to have a Denver-based business.
In the past, we have used an online application form. You will complete a business profile, and submit it to the JumpStart BizPlan Awards group online. This is typically the first level of review.
All entries will be reviewed as they are submitted. Ten semifinalists will be asked to provide a full business plan (an example of required contents here). Three finalists will get special coaching on their pitch presentations, which are typically done live to an expert panel of judges.
