JumpStart Academy offers training, mentoring, key networking opportunities to position entrepreneurs for second-stage growth
The Denver Office of Economic Development, along with partners Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network and Project X-ITE from the University of Denver, today launched JumpStart Academy, a training program for local startups. Designed to support emerging business leaders, the program provides a unique peer group cohort approach to help proven but fledgling firms catapult to their next growth stage.
The inaugural class of JumpStart Academy includes six founders who have all graduated from regional business incubators and accelerators. Each firm has demonstrated exciting potential to garner capital investment and add jobs. The inaugural class includes ECS Consulting, HyprLoco, LockState, Maria Empanada, Sugarwish, and TurtleWise.
“With the powerful expertise of both the Blackstone Entrepreneurs Network and Project X-ITE to draw on, we’re listening to these firms, and responding to their needs with a curated curriculum that positions them for their next round of funding,” said Paul Washington, OED Executive Director.
The program’s six-month curriculum includes customized training, mentoring and introductions.
Referring accelerators for this initial cohort included Mergelane, Patriot Bootcamp, TechrloT, SBA Emerging Leaders, and SBDC Leading Edge.
JumpStart Academy is the OED’s latest initiative supporting Denver’s vibrant startup community. The program builds on several other efforts including the Commons on Champa, the Denver Capital Matrix, the Denver Venture Capital Report, small business financing, employee recruitment, as well as one-on-one advisory sessions and workshops.
