Office Of The Clerk & Recorder


We are open for in-person services by appointment only

Many of our services are available remotely, or via mail or dropbox. If you need to come in to the office for a marriage license or other in-person service, you will need to make an appointment. Our calendar opens 28 days in advance and dates fill up quickly. Be sure to check back for available dates as cancellations occur.

Welcome to the Office of the Clerk and Recorder

The Denver Clerk and Recorder functions as the City Clerk, the Public Trustee, the County Recorder and the Chief Elections Official. The work we do is performed by these offices within our agency:

  • Public Trustee: administers foreclosures, executes releases of deeds of trust, and sells foreclosed properties at auction when necessary

  • Policy and Compliance: acts as a government relations liaison to state and local policymakers, fulfills open records requests, coordinates with the city attorney for the office's legal and policy needs, and produces ethics, gift, and campaign finance reports

  • Recording: issues marriage licenses and records real estate documents

  • Elections Division: provides comprehensive elections services for The City and County of Denver
