A limited number of recreation programs will be offered beginning September 8, 2020. These classes and activities will occur in outdoor spaces following current safety guidelines. Register for programs now!

All centers that are meal sites will continue to serve meals during regularly scheduled hours (Mon.-Fri. 3:30-5:30pm).

About Carla Madison Recreation Center

Carla Madison is Denver's newest Regional Level Center located in the northeast area. Its facility features include:

  • Gymnasium with basketball and volleyball court functionality
  • Weight and cardio room
  • Group fitness studio
  • Multi-purpose room
  • Cycle studio
  • Outdoor climbing wall
  • Eight lane, 25-yard competition lap pool
  • Leisure pool with play features, lazy river and three 20-yard lap lanes

Barre [takes place in the group fitness studio]
This workout combines mat pilates and resistance training to target all major and minor muscle groups in the body. Utilizing various props and light dumbbells, the class moves to the beat of the music to flow quickly between exercises.

BOGA Fit [takes place in the lap pool]
This 40-minute class takes place in the pool on a stand-up paddleboard like apparatus. It is the perfect balance of vinyasa yoga, resistance training using bands and body weight, and cardio all done on a BOGA board. It will challenge all muscles in your body. Wear your swimsuit and be prepared to get wet!

BOGA Yoga [takes place in the lap pool]
This 40-minute yoga practice takes place in the pool on a stand-up paddleboard like apparatus. It is based on foundational yoga poses that are modified to fit the BOGA board. It will challenge your mind, balance, and stability. Wear your swimsuit and be prepared to get wet!

Cardio Kickboxing [takes place in the group fitness studio]
This high-intensity, boxing-inspired, cardio workout combines athletic drills, combos, plyometrics, agility training, and resistance training. Choreographed to the beat of the music, it works every major and minor muscle group in the body.

Cycle+Weights [takes place in cycle studio]
This class combines cycling and light weights while on the bike. It includes hill climbs, sprints, intervals, and upper body movements for a total body workout.

D2D Soca Fit [takes place in the group fitness studio]
This class blends Caribbean and African dance movements set to calypso, soca, chutney, zouk, reggae, salsa and drum music. This exhilarating dance fitness workout is a fun, full-body workout!

Essentrics [takes place in the group fitness studio]
Essentrics is a low-impact class using standing, floor, and barre exercises to help participants improve posture, balance, and mobility. It is a dynamic stretching program that builds strength and flexibility at the same time.

Group Training [takes place on the fitness rig/gym floor]
Utilizing a variety of specialty equipment combined with plyometric and agility movements, this stationbased class will deliver an incredible, full-body workout in minimal time.

HIIT-Cycle [takes place in the cycle studio]
This 45-minute high intensity interval training (HIIT) cycle workout alternates hill climbs, sprints, and active recovery to achieve maximum performance in minimal time.

Indoor Cycling [takes place in the cycle studio]
This class is designed for all levels and incorporates hill climbs, sprints, and intervals to improve cardiovascular strength and endurance.

Oula [takes place in the group fitness studio]
This high-energy dance fitness class is set to the latest popular music and encourages independent movement while improving cardiovascular endurance.

Power Yoga [takes place in the group fitness studio]
Generate heat in the body, build stamina, increase lean muscle mass, and improve balance with this class. This yoga format provides a faster pace and challenging sequence of poses.

Total Body Conditioning [takes place in the group fitness studio]
This high-energy class combines strength and cardio exercises for a total body workout that utilizes a variety of resistance equipment and body weight movements.

Vinyasa Yoga [takes place in the group fitness studio]
This practice is based on foundational yoga poses performed in a dynamic, flowing style to create a balance of physical action, internal focus, and conscious breathing. Poses are modified to include beginners while challenging experienced practitioners.

Yin Yoga [takes place in the group fitness studio]
This yoga practice incorporates both seated and supine postures held for longer amounts of time to stretch and relax all muscles in the body. Increase mobility, calm the mind, and improve flexibility in this gentle yoga format. (Optional: Bring a blanket or bolster.)

Yoga [takes place in the group fitness studio]
This meditative practice includes longer holds to ignite the body's internal heat and allow deep release to occur. Students learn to balance strength with flexibility and effort with surrender in each pose.
Level I is geared toward beginners and Level II is more advanced.

Zumba® [takes place in the group fitness studio]
This energetic dance fitness class incorporates a variety of international choreography and music genres for a workout suitable for all fitness levels.

The Carla Madison Recreation Center offers three spaces available for rental. Starting February 25th at 12:00 PM any guest can submit an application for any event landing within March 10 – May 18th. See below for complete booking timeline. 

Multipurpose Room
Capacity: 60
Cost: $54/hour with a two-hour minimum

Pool Party Room
Capacity: 30 (includes swimmers and non-swimmers)
Cost: $175 for two-hour party (includes admission for guests)
All parties are scheduled from 11:15 AM - 1:15 PM on Saturdays and Sundays only.
