Denver Public Safety Supports Local National Night Out Events

The Department of Public Safety is partnering with local community groups hosting National Night Out (NNO) events across the city on August 6, 2019.

Launched in 1984, NNO is celebrated across the nation to provide an opportunity for communities to stand together as a unified front to promote safety. The goal is to heighten crime prevention awareness; build support and participation in local anti-crime strategies; and strengthen communities by encouraging neighborhoods to engage in stronger relationships with each other and law enforcement partners.

“Our role in Public Safety is to ensure our residents feel safe and we can’t do that without building strong relationships with the communities we serve,” said Executive Director of Public Safety, Troy Riggs. “National Night Out is a fun and interactive way for neighbors and representatives from all of Denver’s safety agencies to get to know each other.”

NNO in Denver is a part of the city’s annual Denver Days – a citywide initiative designed to foster neighborhood camaraderie by providing tools and services that can be used to host neighborhood service projects and community gatherings during the month of August.

Public safety agencies will be providing equipment, including police and fire vehicles, to NNO events and public safety personnel, including Director Riggs, Police Chief Paul Pazen, Fire Chief Eric Tade and Sheriff Patrick Firman, will visit NNO throughout the city to promote public safety, community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie.
