Lightshade Labs LLC Voluntarily Recalls Medical and Retail Marijuana Due to Presence of Yeast/Mold in Pre-Roll Products

A Denver marijuana business, Lightshade Labs LLC, doing business as Lightshade Labs, is voluntarily recalling medical and retail marijuana products due to presence of elevated yeast and/or mold counts.  

During the course of a Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE) investigation, samples of dried marijuana in pre-rolls, otherwise known as joints, were evaluated and contained potentially unsafe levels of yeast/mold.

All medical and retail marijuana pre-rolls sold from the following Lightshade Labs locations prior to February 16, 2018 are subject to the recall.

DDPHE opened an investigation after receiving a complaint of illness potentially associated with these products.  Short and long-term health impacts resulting from inhalation exposure to mold may exist depending on the specific product, duration, frequency, and level of exposure.  Consumers with concerns about their personal health should contact their physician with related questions.  Any consumers who experienced symptoms of illness after smoking a pre-roll Lightshade product are also urged to contact DDPHE at phicomments@denvergov.org.  

The Denver Department of Public Health and Environment (DDPHE) is investigating this issue and overseeing the recall process to remove potentially contaminated products from commercial circulation.  DDPHE conducts inspections of marijuana-infused product manufacturers and retail locations in Denver and investigates related complaints.
