Denver Fire Department announces new Public Information Officer

DENVER – Denver Fire Chief Eric Tade appointed Firefighter Melissa Taylor as the new Public Information Officer for the Denver Fire Department. Technician Taylor will lead the Department’s media relations and execute communitywide communications campaigns. She will share on-call afterhours responsibilities with other teammates.

A resident of the Denver metro area since 1984, Tech. Taylor earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Management with a minor in Communications from Regis University. She became a Denver Firefighter in 2008.

Prior to joining the Denver Fire Department, Tech. Taylor served as Regional Marketing & Communications Specialist for Humana Healthcare, Executive Director for the Colorado Chapter of the American Heart Association, and Denver Division Director for the Colorado Chapter of the March of Dimes.

DFD Tech. Mark Watson completed his tenure as Public Information Officer and has been reappointed as a Fire Investigator.
