Mayor Launches Community Process to Review Public Asset Naming Using an Equity Lens

Mayor Michael B. Hancock today announced that he has asked the Agency of Human Rights and Community Partnerships advisory board, a diverse and inclusive set of representatives from the city’s advocacy commissions, and the at-large members of City Council to survey, take community input on and provide recommendations for the potential renaming of landmarks and other public spaces in the city named for individuals associated with racist groups or ideologies. The group will work with residents and neighborhoods to identify locations and other assets, including buildings and parks, for potential renaming.
