Denver City Government Closed Monday, May 29

DENVER – Most City and County of Denver offices will be closed Monday, May 29, 2017, in observance of the Memorial Day holiday.

As a result of the holiday, the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, Clerk and Recorder’s Office, Auditor’s Office and most city agencies will be closed. Partner entities such as Denver Health will remain open on Monday, May 26, 2017 as will agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport. Sworn members of the Denver Sheriff, Police and Fire departments and other emergency responders will report for duty Monday, May 29, 2017. 

Please see below for specific information on how city functions will be affected during these closures:

3-1-1 INFORMATION LINE, DENVERGOV.ORG & DENVER 8 TV
3-1-1, the city’s information line for non-emergency services will be closed on Monday, May 29. Service requests may be submitted via mobile device using Pocketgov or online at denvergov.org/denver311. Updates are available continuously on www.denvergov.org.  Programming continues on Denver 8 TV, though Council has no meetings scheduled the week of May 29.

ANIMAL SHELTER & ANIMAL CONTROL
The Denver Animal Shelter will be closed on  Monday, May 29. Animal Control Officers will be available to respond to emergencies and enforce city regulations.

BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
Building and Zoning permit counters will be closed  Monday, May 29. No building inspections will be scheduled that day.

CITY-OWNED GOLF FACILITIES
Golf courses will be open, weather permitting, Monday, May 29.

CLERK & RECORDER AND MARRIAGE LICENSES
The Office of the Clerk and Recorder – including marriage licensing, the Public Trustee, Records and Recording – will be closed Monday, May 29.

COURTS
The Denver County Court will be closed Monday, May 29.  All state-operated courts, including the Denver District Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court located in the City and County Building will be closed  Monday, May 29.

DENVER ARTS & VENUES
All properties managed by Denver Arts & Venues, including Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre, the Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center and Denver Coliseum, will be open for scheduled events and performances on Monday, May 29.  

DENVER COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE OFFICES
The five Denver County Motor Vehicle office locations will be closed Monday, May 29. For vehicle renewal online, please visit pocketgov.com

ELECTIONS DIVISION
The Denver Elections Division will be closed Monday, May 29.

EXCISE & LICENSES
Excise and Licenses’ customer service counters and offices will be closed Monday, May 29.

HUMAN SERVICES
Denver Human Services will be closed Monday, May 29, however the child and adult protection emergency response teams and telephone hotlines will be open and taking calls. To report suspected child abuse or neglect call 1-844-CO-4-KIDS (1-844-264-5437) from anywhere in Colorado. To report elder abuse for an adult 70 years and older or the abuse, neglect or exploitation of an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability, call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000. For all other adult protection calls, please call 720-944-2994.

LIBRARIES
All Denver Public Library locations will be closed Sunday, May 28 and Monday, May 29 in observance of the Memorial Day holiday. Due to the closure of the Westwood Community Center, the Westwood Branch Library will also be closed Saturday, May 27. For more information, please visit www.denverlibrary.org

OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES TALENT ACQUISITION TESTING
The Office of Human Resources Talent Acquisition Testing Center will be closed Monday, May 29. Applicants will still be able to search and apply for open positions at www.denvergov.org/jobs.

OFFICE OF THE MEDICAL EXAMINER (CORONER)
The Office of the Medical Examiner (Coroner) will be closed Monday, May 29. Office staff will be available to respond to emergencies.

PARKING METERS, CASHIERS AND MAGISTRATE
Parking meters are free on Sundays and on recognized city holidays and will be free Monday, May 29. Drivers are reminded to observe the time restrictions posted and to follow all normal parking regulations all other days.

The Parking Cashier counter and the Parking Magistrate’s office will be closed Monday, May 29. Parking violations may be disputed online at www.parksmartdenver.com – the citation number printed on the ticket is required. Payment may also be made by any of the following options:

  • Pay-by-phone at 1-866-280-9988 and follow the recorded steps using Visa, MasterCard or Discover
  • Pay online at www.parksmartdenver.com using Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT COUNTERS
Public Works’ permit counters and the Right Of Way Enforcement office will be closed Monday, May 29.

RECREATION CENTERS
All Denver Recreation Centers will be closed on Monday, May 29.

TRASH, RECYCLING & COMPOST COLLECTION
Trash, recycling and composting will not be collected Monday, May 29. Denver residents can sign up for electronic reminders for trash, recycling and compost collection on pocketgov.com. All services will be delayed by one day the week of the 29th.

VEHICLE IMPOUND FACILITY
The Vehicle Impound Facility, 5160 York St., will be closed Monday, May 29.

WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT
The Wastewater Management Building, 2000 W. Third Ave., will be closed Monday, May 29.

WORKFORCE CENTERS
All Denver Workforce Centers will be closed Monday, May 29. The city’s online hiring system will be available at www.denvergov.org/jobs.
