Denver City Government Closed Wednesday, December 25 and Wednesday, January 1

DENVER – Most City and County of Denver offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1  in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays.

Due to the holidays, the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, Clerk and Recorder’s Office, Auditor’s Office and most city agencies will be closed. Partner entities such as Denver Health will remain open Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1, as will agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport. Sworn members of the Denver Sheriff, Police and Fire departments and other emergency responders will report for duty Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1 as well.

3-1-1 INFORMATION LINE, DENVERGOV.ORG AND DENVER 8 TV
3-1-1, the city’s information line for non-emergency services will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Service requests may be submitted via mobile device using Pocketgov or online at denvergov.org/denver311. Updates are available continuously on www.denvergov.org. Programming continues on Denver 8 TV. The regular Monday meeting of City Council on Dec. 23 will be the only scheduled and televised council meeting the weeks of Dec. 23 and Dec. 30. ANIMAL SHELTER & ANIMAL PROTECTION
The Denver Animal Shelter will close at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Wednesday, Dec. 31, and will be closed all day on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Animal Protection Officers will be available to respond to emergencies as requested by the Denver Police Department.

AUDITOR’S OFFICE
The Auditor’s Office will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
Building and Zoning permit counters will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. No building inspections will be scheduled those days.

CITY COUNCIL
All Denver City Council offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1 in observance of the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. The regular Monday meeting of Denver City Council will take place on Monday, Dec. 23, while all committee meetings will be cancelled the week of Dec. 23. There will be no meetings of the Denver City Council the week of Dec. 30.

CITY-OWNED GOLF FACILITIES
Golf courses will be open on Tuesday, Dec. 24 until 2 p.m. and will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25. Golf courses will be open on Tuesday, Dec. 31 until 2 p.m. and will be open Wednesday, Jan. 1, weather permitting.

CLERK & RECORDER AND MARRIAGE LICENSES
The Office of the Clerk and Recorder – including marriage licensing, the Public Trustee, Records and Recording – will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

COURTS
The Denver County Court will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. The Denver County Court will not be hosting an Outreach Court session at the Denver Rescue Mission on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1 due to the holidays. All state-operated courts, including the Denver District Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court located in the City and County Building, will be closed.

DENVER ARTS & VENUES
Denver Performing Arts Complex, Colorado Convention Center and Denver Coliseum will be open for scheduled events and performances. Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre will be open Wednesday, Dec. 25, however the Red Rocks Visitor Center, Trading Post and Ship Rock Grille will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25. McNichols Civic Center Building will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

DENVER COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE OFFICES
The five Denver County Motor Vehicle office locations will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. For vehicle renewal online, visit the Denver Motor Vehicle website or mydmv.colorado.gov.

DENVER HUMAN SERVICES
All Denver Human Services locations will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1, however child and adult protection emergency response teams and telephone hotlines will be taking and responding to reports. To report suspected child abuse or neglect call 1-844-CO-4-KIDS (1-844-264-5437) from anywhere in Colorado. To report elder abuse for an adult 70 years and older or the abuse, neglect or exploitation of an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability, call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000. For all other adult protection calls, please call 720-944-4DHS (4347).

ELECTIONS DIVISION
The Denver Elections Division will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

EXCISE & LICENSES
Excise and Licenses’ customer service counters and offices will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

LIBRARIES
All Denver Public Library branches will be closed the following days during the winter holiday season:

  • Tuesday, Dec. 24 – early closure at 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Dec. 25 – all day
  • Tuesday, Dec. 31 – early closure at 4 p.m.
  • Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2019 – all day

OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES TALENT ACQUISITION TESTING AND NEW HIRE ONBOARDING  
The Office of Human Resources Talent Acquisition Testing Center will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Applicants will still be able to search and apply for open positions at www.denvergov.org/jobs. The Talent Acquisition front desk will also be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. New Hire Onboarding assistance and I-9 verification will resume on Thursday, Dec. 26 and Thursday, Jan. 2.

OFFICE OF THE MEDICAL EXAMINER (CORONER)
The Office of the Medical Examiner (Coroner) will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Office staff will be available to respond to emergencies.

PARKING METERS, CASHIERS AND MAGISTRATE
Parking meters are free on Sundays and on recognized city holidays, and will be free Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Drivers are reminded to observe the time restrictions posted and to follow all normal parking regulations all other days. 

The Parking Cashier counter and the Parking Magistrate’s office will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Parking violations may be disputed online at www.parksmartdenver.com – the citation number printed on the ticket is required. Payment may also be made by any of the following options:

  • Pay-by-phone at 1-866-280-9988 and follow the recorded steps using Visa, MasterCard or Discover
  • Pay online at www.parksmartdenver.com using Visa, MasterCard or Discover.

PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT COUNTERS
Public Works permit counters and the Right Of Way Enforcement office will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

RECREATION CENTERS
All Recreation Centers will close at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 31. Fitness & Aqua-Fitness activities starting before 2:30 p.m. will take place as scheduled. Session activities including youth sports, arts and swim lessons are not scheduled on Tuesday, Dec. 24 and Tuesday, Dec. 31. All Denver Recreation Centers will be closed on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

TAXPAYER SERVICE CENTER
The Taxpayer Service Center will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. For questions about property, business or other tax obligations, or to pay taxes online, visit the Taxpayer Services website.

TRASH, RECYCLING & COMPOST COLLECTION
Trash, recycling and composting will not be collected on Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. Collection will be delayed one day the remainder of these weeks. After Christmas, give your tree a second life and recycle it through Denver’s Treecycle program. This year, residents can set out their Christmas trees on one of their regular scheduled trash collection days between Jan. 6-17. For more info, please visit denvergov.org/treecycle.

VEHICLE IMPOUND FACILITY
The Vehicle Impound Facility, 5160 York St., will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT
The Wastewater Management Building, 2000 W. 3rd Ave., will be closed Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1.

WORKFORCE CENTERS
All Denver Workforce Centers will be closed  Wednesday, Dec. 25 and Wednesday, Jan. 1. The city’s online hiring system will be available at www.denvergov.org/jobs.
