Denver City Government Closed Friday, September 4 and Monday, September 7

Most City and County of Denver offices will be closed Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. In addition, most City and County Denver offices will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 due to a previously announced furlough day for city employees.

Due to the holiday and furlough, the Mayor’s Office, City Council offices, Clerk and Recorder’s Office, Auditor’s Office and most city agencies will be closed. Partner entities such as Denver Health will remain open Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7, as will agencies that operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, such as Denver International Airport. Sworn members of the Denver Sheriff, Police and Fire departments and other emergency responders will report for duty Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7 as well.

Several city services remain on modified operations schedules independent of the holiday and scheduled furlough day due to COVID-19. Most city buildings are closed to the public until further notice and many city services are available online www.denvergov.org/onlineservices.

Please see below for specific information on how city functions will be affected during these closures:

3-1-1 INFORMATION LINE, DENVERGOV.ORG AND DENVER 8 TV
3-1-1, the city’s information line for non-emergency services will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7. Service requests may be submitted via mobile device using Pocketgov or online at denvergov.org/denver311. Updates are available continuously on www.denvergov.org. ANIMAL SHELTER & ANIMAL PROTECTION
The Denver Animal Shelter will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. Animal Protection Officers will be available to respond to emergencies as requested by the Denver Police Department.

AUDITOR’S OFFICE
The Auditor’s Office will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7.

BUILDING AND ZONING PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS
Building and Zoning permitting will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. No inspections will be scheduled those days.

CITY COUNCIL
All Denver City Council offices will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7 due to the holiday and furlough day. City Council will not meet the week of Sept. 7.

CITY-OWNED GOLF FACILITIES
Golf courses will be open on Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7, weather permitting. Denver Golf Courses are open with restrictions for COVID-19 policies in place for the safety of everyone. Please review these policies before making a tee time.

CLERK & RECORDER AND MARRIAGE LICENSES
The Office of the Clerk and Recorder – including marriage licensing, the Public Trustee, Records and Recording – will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7.

COURTS
The Denver County Court and all state-operated courts, including the Denver District Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court located in the City and County Building, will be open Friday, Sept 4. For additional information: Denver County Court | 2nd Judicial District.

The Denver County Court will be closed Monday, Sept. 7. The Denver County Court will not be hosting an Outreach Court session at the Denver Rescue Mission on Monday, Sept. 7 due to the holiday. All state-operated courts, including the Denver District Court, Juvenile Court and Probate Court located in the City and County Building, will be closed Monday, Sept. 7.

DENVER ARTS & VENUES
Outdoor spaces at Red Rocks Park and Amphitheatre will be open this weekend, as will the Red Rocks Trading Post. McNichols Civic Center Building will be open to visitors this weekend. DENVER COUNTY MOTOR VEHICLE OFFICES
The five Denver County Motor Vehicle office locations will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. For vehicle renewal online, visit the Denver Motor Vehicle website or mydmv.colorado.gov.

DENVER HUMAN SERVICES
All Denver Human Services locations will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7, however child and adult protection emergency response teams and telephone hotlines will be taking and responding to reports. To report suspected child abuse or neglect call 1-844-CO-4-KIDS (1-844-264-5437) from anywhere in Colorado. To report elder abuse for an adult 70 years and older or the abuse, neglect or exploitation of an adult with an intellectual or developmental disability, call the Denver Police Department at 720-913-2000. For all other adult protection calls, please call 720-944-4DHS (4347).

DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION & INFRASTRUCTURE PERMIT COUNTERS
DOTI permit and the Right Of Way Enforcement offices will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. Permit counters remain closed to in-person service due to COVID-19. ELECTIONS DIVISION
The Denver Elections Division will be open Friday, Sept. 4 for legally required operations associated with the November 3 general election. The Denver Elections Division will be closed Monday, Sept. 7.

EXCISE & LICENSES
Excise and Licenses’ customer service counters and offices are currently not accepting in-person applications, and will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. Learn more about submitting an application via email.

LIBRARIES
Live remote services such as phone reference, eProgramming, and curbside holds pickup will be unavailable on Friday, Sept. 4 for a city-mandated furlough, and Monday, Sept. 7 in observance of the Labor Day holiday. Curbside holds pick up is available and book drops are open at all locations with the exception of Smiley and Byers. Locations remain closed for public use. OFFICE OF HUMAN RESOURCES TALENT ACQUISITION TESTING AND NEW HIRE ONBOARDING  
The Office of Human Resources Talent Acquisition Testing Center will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. Applicants will still be able to search and apply for open positions at www.denvergov.org/jobs. The Talent Acquisition front desk will also be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. New Hire Onboarding assistance and I-9 verification will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

OFFICE OF THE MEDICAL EXAMINER (CORONER)
The Office of the Medical Examiner (Coroner) will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. Office staff will be available to respond to emergencies.

PARKING METERS, CASHIERS AND MAGISTRATE
Parking meters are free on Sundays and on recognized city holidays, and will be free Monday, Sept. 7. Drivers are reminded to observe the time restrictions posted.

In-person cashiering services at the Wellington E. Webb Building are closed due to COVID-19.

In order to practice social distancing and help prevent the spread of COVID-19, the Parking Magistrate’s Office is currently not accepting walk-in hearings, but is working remotely to assist customers. To reach the Parking Magistrate:

  • Dispute a parking ticket online at www.parksmartdenver.com.
  • Contact the parking magistrate by phone at 1-866-280-9988, Monday – Friday between 8:00 am and 4:30 pm.

PEPSI CENTER COVID-19 TESTING SITE
The Pepsi Center COVID-19 testing site will be close Friday, Sept. 4 through Monday, Sept. 7. The testing site will reopen Tuesday, Sept. 8.

RECREATION CENTERS
All Denver Recreation Centers and Pools are closed until further notice as details on how to open safely and equitably amid COVID-19 are determined. All centers that are meal sites will not be offering meal service on Friday, Sept. 4 or Monday, Sept. 7.

TAXPAYER SERVICE CENTER
The Taxpayer Service Center will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. For questions about property, business or other tax obligations, or to pay taxes online, visit the Taxpayer Services website.

 

TRASH, RECYCLING & COMPOST COLLECTION
Solid Waste Management will be operating normal trash, recycling and compost collection services on the city furlough day scheduled for Friday, Sept. 4. There will be no disruption in service for residents with Friday collection schedules. Trash, recycling and composting will not be collected on Monday, Sept. 7. Collection will be delayed one day the remainder of the week of Sept. 7.

VEHICLE IMPOUND FACILITY
The Vehicle Impound Facility, 5160 York St., will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7.

WASTEWATER MANAGEMENT
The Wastewater Management Building, 2000 W. 3rd Ave., will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7

WORKFORCE CENTERS
All Denver Workforce Centers will be closed Friday, Sept. 4 and Monday, Sept. 7. The city’s online hiring system will be available at www.denvergov.org/jobs.
