Through the annual Mayor’s Youth Awards (MYA) event, the City and County of Denver proudly recognizes youth between the ages of 13 – 19 who have overcome difficult situations by making positive changes and exhibiting strength and determination in the face of adversity.

Who can submit nominations? ANYONE!

All nominees must meet the following criteria:

  • Must be between the ages of 13 – 19 as of December 31, 2015
  • Must be a resident of the City and County of Denver
  • Can attend any school in Colorado
  • Are not required to be enrolled in school
  • Cannot be a past recipient of the MYA

Selection Process: A screening committee will review all nominations submitted. The top 20 candidates, along with their
family members and nominator will be invited to attend a ceremony and be recognized by Mayor Michael B. Hancock
at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building in Downtown Denver on Tuesday, April 19, 2016 from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m.

Notification of Selection: Nominators will be notified of the nominee’s status by email.

Nomination Forms: All forms must be signed by both the nominator and nominee, and can be emailed or mailed
to the Office of Children’s Affairs (additional details provided on the form).

Includes free access to all Denver recreation centers, swimming pools and limited special
admission to educational and cultural facilities!
