Employee Guidelines

These guidelines are not intended to create policies or rules that must be followed; rather, it is intended to service as guidance on leading practices and generally what an employee, manager and co-worker may expect in the given situation.


The Americans with Disabilities Act - Information for Employees brochure was created to support City and County of Denver's employees who are covered under the ADAAA. Title I of the ADA prohibits covered employers from discriminating against people with disabilities in employment and requires employers to provide a reasonable accommodation to qualified individuals with disabilities unless the accommodation would be an undue hardship or direct threat. The Family Medical Leave Act - Information for Employees brochure was created to support City and County of Denver's employees who are covered under the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA). The Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) is a federal law that entitles eligible employees to take unpaid, job-protected leave for specified family and medical reasons with continuation of group health insurance coverage under the same terms and conditions as if the employee had not taken leave. Guidelines for Supporting Gender Transitioning Employees is intended for supporting City and County of Denver’s (CCD) transgender and gender non-conforming employees. The Guidelines for Supporting Gender Transitioning Employees is not intended to create policies or rules that must be followed; rather, it is intended to serve as guidance on leading practices and generally what an employee, manager and co-worker may expect when an employee experiences a gender transition.
