Three Exciting Events Coming to Denver’s Front Yard!

The Mile High City will be hopping over the next few weeks with several major special events planned for Civic Center Park and the plaza in front of the City and County Building. The city is thrilled to be involved in preparations  for three exciting celebrations - A Taste of Colorado, the 2016 NFL Kickoff and Colorado Remembers 9/11.

These festivities will result in restricted access to roads and areas in and around several City and County of Denver administration buildings, but all of our buildings will be accessible to employees and the general public.

Be sure to read the information below so that you can plan accordingly to navigate your routes to work, the City and County Building access points, and the celebrations themselves. Please remember, if you’re planning to participate in some of the action during your normal workday, you must take the appropriate steps to secure time off from your direct supervisor.

Road Closures and City and County Building Access:

  • Street closures around Civic Center Park and city administration buildings, including the City and County Building, will begin August 27 and continue through mid-September. Bannock Street, between Colfax and 14th Avenues, will be completely closed with parking and lane restrictions along with intermittent closures of other area roadways.
  • From Tuesday, September 6 through Friday September 9, Bannock Street entrances to the City and County Building will be closed to employees and the public. A temporary public entrance will be created on Cherokee Street and the public entrance on 14th Avenue will remain open.
