As a growing, vibrant city, the demand and popularity of hosting Runs/Races/Walks and Bike Rides in Denver has escalated over the past several years. With this increased demand, the city must balance the wants and needs of our residents and event organizers with the capacity of our roadways and parks for these events.
While Denver evaluates its current citywide processes and criteria for permitting these popular events in and around the city and our neighborhoods, we will not be accepting applications for any NEW Runs/Races/Walks or Bike Rides in 2014. This 2014 cap on new Runs/ Races/Walks or Bike Rides is necessary in order for the city to provide the best possible experience for those recurring events we currently permit on an annual basis.
This is a temporary cap that applies only to a Run/Race or Bike Ride that DID NOT occur in the 2013 calendar year. If your event took place in 2013, you will be allowed to hold that SAME event in 2014.
The temporary cap is effective January 1, 2014 and will remain in effect throughout the year.
We have also informed our neighboring municipalities of our temporary cap. We encourage you to review the list provided on this page of regional special event offices and contact them for more information and availability in their respective cities.
Please stay tuned for more information throughout the year regarding special events and permits in the City and County of Denver.
