Families Invited to Children’s Museum to Have a Doggone Good Time, Voting for Their Favorite Sustainable Dog House

Are you looking for some family fun this weekend? Then we have a unique event just for you. Stop by the Children’s Museum of Denver at Marsico Campus on Sunday, Oct. 1 and vote for your favorite sustainable dog house, learn to make homemade dog treats and make some furry friends. The dog houses are part of Denver International Airport’s (DEN) BARKitecture Dog House Competition taking place through Oct. 9 on the plaza and we want you to be a part of the fun.

This event will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday and is a great opportunity to enjoy the Children’s Museum while also participating in the BARKitecture activities. All BARKitecture activities are included in the price of admission. You and your kids will be able to view photos of the stylish and environmentally friendly dog houses and even vote on your favorites. Your votes will help identify the winners of the “People’s Choice Award” and another as “Kid’s Choice Award,” which will be announced on Oct. 9 at an event at DEN. You can vote for your favorite dog house at

If you can’t make it to the Children’s Museum this weekend, you will still have an opportunity to view the dog houses at DEN through Oct. 9. In addition to the online voting, you can also make one of the dog houses your own by participating in the online auction. The minimum bid for each dog house is $300 and each unique dog house is valued at $5,000. All proceeds will benefit the Dumb Friends League. You can bid online and learn more about each dog house at

About DEN’s BARKitecture Dog House Competition

DEN in partnership with the Dumb Friends League is hosting a solar dog house competition in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon. DEN’s competition challenged local design and architecture firms to design and construction a solar dog house using a member of DEN’s Canine Airport Therapy Squad (CATS) program as inspiration for the design. There are 15 dog houses available for viewing on DEN’s plaza until Oct. 9 and one located in the Jeppesen Terminal that was designed by DEN employees.
