CS Rule 10 provides guidelines and policies for administering time off through the City’s leave programs.
Vacation/sick and PTO accrual hours post on the first of the month following the month they were accrued. This means that the accruals that you earn in January will post on February 1st. The Personal Holiday accrual posts each year on January 1st.
You must end the month with balances that allow you to earn a full accrual posting, or you will lose any time above the bank maximum. Hover here for example one. Hover here for example two.

You do not need to notify anyone of your upcoming raise in accrual hours. Your accrual rate will automatically adjust according to your hire date.

Though you are able to take any increment of vacation, sick, PTO or personal holiday time as you wish, the city calculates hours worked in increments of 15 minutes. When requesting time off, the smallest measurement is 15 minutes.

You may hear employees say that they are "at use it or lose it." That means that they have accrued enough leave time that they are at or close to the maximum amount and will lose any time beyond the maximum with the upcoming accrual posting. Avoid a use it or lose it situation by:
