Denver Police Arrest Suspects in Two Separate Homicides

Denver – Wednesday, March 11, 2020 – Denver Police investigators have arrested suspects in connection with the following two homicide investigations, which are not related incidents. As always, the Denver District Attorney’s Office will make the final determination on charges in these cases.

2600 Block of West Colorado Ave.

On Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at 5:00 p.m., 17-year-old Jeremiah Baca was shot in the 2600 block of West Colorado Avenue and later died at the hospital as a result of the injuries. 

On March 10, 2020, Denver Police arrested Adalberto Chavez (DOB 5/9/98), Ricardo Padilla-Gonzalez (DOB 1/6/97) and a juvenile male. The three suspects are being held for Investigation of First Degree Murder.  Evidence in this case indicates this homicide occurred during an attempted robbery by the suspects.  The arrest affidavits in this case are currently sealed and not available for release.

1000 Block of North Sheridan Blvd.

On Monday, March 9, 2020, at 3:14 p.m., Denver Police received reports of a shooting in the 1000 block of N. Sheridan Blvd. and that the suspects fled the scene in a vehicle. Responding officers located an adult male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to the hospital and was later pronounced deceased. Following a thorough investigation, officers arrested Richard Marin (DOB 5/8/99) for Investigation of First Degree Murder and Raylene Chacon (DOB 10/23/2000) for Investigation of Accessory to First Degree Murder.  It appears the suspects and victim were not known to each other and this was a random encounter.  The arrest affidavits in this case are currently sealed and not available for release.  Per standard protocol, the victim’s identity will be released by the Denver Office of the Medical Examiner.
