As we approach the July 4th weekend, and with COVID-19 keeping people closer to home this holiday, we may see more motorcyclists out and about on Denver streets. Tomorrow, leaders with the Denver Police Department and Denver’s Department of Transportation & Infrastructure (DOTI) will urge people in cars and on motorcycles to use caution on our roadways.

Denver is movin’ on up in the rankings for two-wheels! People for Bikes recently released its third annual ratings of the best cities for bicycling in the U.S. Out of 567 cities, (drum roll please) Denver ranked 8th! The Mile High City has shown steady improvement since People for Bikes began its City Ratings program in 2018.

Denver has opened a new pedestrian and bike bridge at 47th and York. The bridge provides a safe crossing over the Union Pacific railroad tracks in the Elyria Swansea neighborhood and a connection for children between Swansea Elementary School and the Valdez-Perry Library Branch.

One bright spot is emerging amid the COVID-19 public health emergency - a colorful new space in the heart of Denver’s Civic Center that aims to evoke feelings of comfort and harmony. Today, work begins on a 28,680 square foot mural on Bannock Street between 14th Avenue and Colfax Avenue.
