Cultural Behavior Awards 2019

On December 10, Denver Public Works (DPW) employees were honored at the DPW Employee Recognition & Appreciation ceremony. Our vision is to be the ideal Public Works Department in the country and the following individuals exhibited one or more of DPW’s Seven Cultural Behaviors:

New 24-hour Transit Lane Coming to 17th Street Downtown

It’s the second 24-hour transit lane to be added in Downtown Denver within the last two months to help move more people, more efficiently in the city with transit. The week of December 16, weather permitting, crews will begin installing red-colored “bus only” markings and new signage on 17th Street from Broadway to Market. Installation could take a few weeks to complete. An additional block from Market to Blake will be added after a construction project on that block is complete.

DPW Completes Paving Season

It’s the most *lane miles* Denver has ever paved in a single year…519 to be exact! With an additional $15 million from the Elevate Denver Bond Program, the city’s paving program grew by 20%, resulting in improvements to an additional 89 lane miles of street, or about 365 blocks, which is also 40 blocks more than originally planned at the start of the season!
