Share the Road

The City and County of Denver is commited to developing safe, predictable transportation options that meet the demands of increasing population growth, support a vibrant economy and enable Denver’s smart growth goals for future development. We are also constantly studying and maintaining our existing transportation infrastructure to meet current needs and integrate new projects and plans with current facilities.

Construction Zones & Road Closures

Denver is a growing, changing city, and construction is a part of daily life. To ensure the safety of workers and people using the streets and sidewalks in Denver, it is sometimes necessary to close traffic lanes or sections of the road or right of way. When necessary, temporary traffic signs and barriers will be set up in advance of closures to direct the flow of traffic. Obey all posted signs and detours, and always proceed cautiously near construction or heavy equipment.

Denver’s Safe Routes To School (SRTS) program aims to improve children's ability to safely walk and bicycle to school. These programs involve the whole community — parents, children, schools, the city, residents, neighborhoods, non-profit organizations and public health agencies. Learn more about Denver's coalition
