Valverde Ditch Storm Drain

This project will install new stormwater infrastructure and repair the Valverde Ditch, to improve flood protection during storms and address safety concerns for pedestrians.

The enlarged storm drain system will be located entirely within City right of way, replacing the current storm drain system that is partially located on private property. New drainage infrastructure will be installed in W. Alameda Avenue between S. Decatur Street and S. Canosa Court. In addition, lateral storm pipes will be installed in side streets between W. Alameda Avenue and W. Dakota Avenue.

Project Schedule

Beginning around December 9, crews will be “potholing” to locate existing utilities in the pipeline project area. It is anticipated that this work will take 3-4 weeks and create short-term, minimal traffic impacts.

Project construction is expected to begin early in 2020. We encourage residents and businesses to sign up to receive construction updates at The project is expected to be completed by summer 2020.

Although full road closures are not anticipated, traffic on W. Alameda Avenue will be impacted due to single-lane closures. Access to residences and businesses will be maintained. There may be temporary interruptions of utility services during construction. Advance notice will be provided to the impacted residents and business owners
