How can I participate or volunteer on/with the Mayor's Commission within the Agency for Human Rights and Community Relations (HRCR)?
All of the Commission meetings are open to the public, please call 720-913-8480 for additional information.The Commission for People with Disabilities meets the first Tuesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. at 201 W. Colfax, Dept. 1102. Because of holidays, bad weather, etc., please call prior to attending to confirm. Sign Language Interpreter provided upon request with three (3) business days notice TTY# 720-913-8484. I am a City & County of Denver employee and want to know where I can take a sign language class?

      The Denver Office of Disability Rights offers classes in sign language, levels 1-3 to City employees.  Call either the office at 720-913-8487 Voice, email lorrie.kosinski@denvergov.org or check the following link for upcoming Sign Language Classes.

Where can I find affordable/accessible housing?

Disability/Handicap Parking

How do I obtain a disability placard or disability license plates?

Please call the Denver Office of Disability Rights (DODR) office at 720-913-8480 Voice or 720-913-8492 TTY and an application form will be mailed to you. The form is available on the Motor Vehicle website at Denver Motor Vehicle Division and the DODR website. This form must be signed by a physician and submitted to your local county Motor Vehicle office as they issue the disability plate/placard.

How do I get a disability/handicapped parking sign in front of my property?

Download (for Denver residents only) the disabled parking sign application form, from this link and submit along with proper documentation to the Denver Office of Disability Rights.  If your request is approved it takes at least a 45 days before the sign may be installed. Please contact the DODR at 720-913-8480 Voice or 720-913-8492 TTY if you have any questions.

What is the Disabled Parking Enforcement Program (DPEP)?

The Disabled Parking Enforcement Program (DPEP) consists of volunteers specially trained to enforce disabled/handicap parking within the City and County of Denver, on both public and private property.
