District 7 Information

Chris Nevitt,
Council District 7

Welcome to Council District 7, representing south Denver's "lucky" District 7. We are a richly diverse community of people – richly diverse in income, ethnicity, education, and occupation. We welcome you all, and are home to all the great things Denver has to offer.

Ours is a diverse and dynamic community, roughly bounded by Federal Blvd. on the west and University Blvd. on the east, 6th Ave. on the north and the City limits at Yale Ave. on the south. We have a diverse array of housing, from the fine old bungalows and leafy streets of West Washington Park and Platt Park, to the post-war cottages and big lots of Athmar Park and Ruby Hill with their fantastic views of downtown and the mountains, to the beautiful new multi-family projects springing up around Broadway and our light-rail stations.

We also boast some of Denver’s major parks and recreational assets, bordering Washington Park on the east, home to Ruby Hill Park and Overland Golf Course on the west and Harvard Gulch Park in the south, peppered with numerous neighborhood pocket parks throughout the district, and with the green ribbon of the Platt River running through the middle – a recreational highway leading to miles of trails and parks in all directions.

Better Denver Bond Projects

The Better Denver Bond Program is a comprehensive effort to invest in our infrastructure; and to enhance and construct city facilities that touch our lives. Over 319 projects are included in this $550M dollar effort.  Denver’s citizens passed the 2007 ballot initiatives that established this program and its bond financing in order to make Denver better for everyone. Through this program, we are improving, preserving, renovating and building new roads, libraries, parks, city offices, an other facilities related to health and human services, public safety and culture.

Better Denver is enhancing our City’s quality of life and serving as a stimulus by pumping millions of dollars into the local economy and helping to put people to work. The City of Denver has committed to delivering these projects in record time and most of the projects are now complete, while some are still in the planning, design or construction phase.  Several large projects are currently underway, including street improvement projects such as Federal Boulevard and South Broadway, and other large projects such as the Denver Museum of Nature and Science Education and Collections Storage Facility, and the new West Denver Branch Library.
