Wear PJ’s and skate for a chance to win two roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines

PJ clad ice skaters will take over the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park on Wednesday, February 4 as Southwest Airlines and the Downtown Denver Partnership join forces with Denver’s Road Home to kick off the 10th Annual PJ Day. PJ Day is Denver’s annual fundraising event to support Denver’s Road Home and draws attention to the fact that not everyone has a place to put on their PJ’s and sleep each night. This year’s PJ Day kick-off event at the Southwest Rink at Skyline Park will feature open skating and a most creative PJ’s contest. The ice skater with the most creative PJ’s will win a pair of roundtrip tickets on Southwest Airlines.

DENVER – January 22, 2015 – Denver Human Services (DHS) Executive Director Penny May today released the following statement regarding the arrest of former DHS employee, Rotchana Madera, in relation to charges of forgery, tampering with physical evidence and official misconduct in the case of two month old Natalee Skinner-Hurst.

Mayor Michael B. Hancock today encouraged local businesses, restaurants, retailers, hotels and schools to join the city’s effort to put homelessness to bed by participating in the 10th annual PJ Day fundraising event on February 5, 2015. The annual event is just one month away and benefits Denver’s Road Home. Funds raised go directly to helping the homeless in Denver.

On Wednesday, December 17, 2014 the Colorado Department of Human Services released results from their file review of a sampling of non-certified kinship caregivers for counties across the state.

A non-certified kinship caregiver is a relative or person with a significant relationship to the family that has not met the same certification requirements as a foster parent or has chosen not to pursue the process. Non-certified kinship caregivers are required to pass background checks and home inspections.

Earlier this year, DHS identified inconsistencies and discrepancies in the fingerprinting process being utilized for non-certified kinship caregivers. The following are some of the items DHS has already implemented or will be implementing regarding the background check process:
