DENVER – Mayor Michael B. Hancock released the following statement on marking the first anniversary of the Aurora theater shooting:
“Today, we mark one year since the theater shooting in Aurora, one of the most heinous acts of violence in our nation’s history. We remember the victims, embrace their families and friends, and recommit to addressing the disconnectedness so many young people feel today.
“I also recognize the steadfast leadership of Mayor Hogan and the entire Aurora community in the face of true horror. Denver, Colorado and the nation remain by your side.
“I cannot express enough the profound thanks we owe to our first responders. They selflessly put their lives on the line to keep us all safe.”
