Mayor Hancock Lauds Governor's Action on Transportation Transparency

DENVER – Mayor Michael B. Hancock released the following statement regarding Gov. John Hickenlooper's veto of the Transportation Enterprise Transparency Act (SB14-197) and signing of an Executive Order that will improve transparency and accountability relating to the Colorado Department of Transportation's High-performance Transportation Enterprise:

“Thanks to the Governor's actions, the State will continue to have the ability to bring together the public and private sectors to create, finance, build, operate and maintain pieces of transportation infrastructure critical to the success and wellbeing of many Colorado cities in spite of severely limited funding options.

“P3s are critical for transformative transportation projects, like I-70, to take shape. The City and County of Denver fully supports governmental transparency and accountability, and the Governor's Executive Order will ensure that P3s remain a feasible tool through an open and transparent process with all stakeholders.”
